Home Air Conditioner FAQs
The average cost of repairing an air conditioner is $350. The usual price range is $160-$520, with the highest end of repairs reaching $2000. Certain AC repairs will also be more expensive than the ordinary remedy. Replacing an air compressor, for example, might cost anywhere from $1350 to $1800, while fixing a refrigerant leak will cost between $200 to $400.
If your air conditioner turns on and your thermostat is adjusted correctly, but your system still doesn't cool, it might be due to a filthy or blocked air filter. Pull your filter out and see if you can see through it as a test. When the filter is dirty it inhibits airflow to the evaporator coil, which can cause the coil to freeze. Be sure to change your filters at least once every three months, and more often if you have pets or family members with severe allergies.
If your air conditioner is still not cooling, you may have a compressor or refrigerant problem and will need to call a professional for AC repairs.
There are several ways to keep the indoor air quality of your home in top condition. Purifiers and other air-cleaning equipment work tirelessly to improve the quality of your indoor air. In addition to using an air purification system, you can keep the air in your home clean by dusting and vacuuming regularly, sweeping up pet hair at least once a week, and by opening your windows when the weather’s fine to remove stagnant air and let in fresh air.

Miller - Tierra Verde, FL 33715
Tom arrived, very quickly diagnosed and resolved the problem. Tom is a 10 on a 1-5 scale. The challenge was the error message indicated that a temperature sensor had failed and reality was the outside unit was without power. The other opportunity was called yesterday at 10:45 AM, was supposed to receive a callback that did not happen, called 3 hours later and the best they could do was a 12 PM appointment today.

Replace UV Bulbs Upon arrival to the multi scheduled system maintenance, I was shown to the a/hs in the garage and c/us on the side of the home. I pulled off the panel door to inspect all electrical components connections, collect amp draw/voltage readings off electrical equipment, and check the unit for cleanliness. I inspected the evaporator coil and blower fan and both are free of biological growth and debris build up. The d/t temperature was within normal range for each system (20°). All electrical components were secure and within factory range. I tested the float safety switch and confirmed it is engaged when needed for each system. I then vacuumed the condensate drain line to remove and blockage or debris. I ensured this was draining properly. The c/u system refrigerant charge is within normal range for both systems and all electrical components are secure. I collected amp draw/voltage readings and the capacitor is low on both c/u’s Immediate needs: I strongly suggest repl

Issue that customer is expressing is that system struggles to keep temperature and runs continuously. He is a new homeowner as of the last three years. The home was built in 1989 and the duct is original. All of the R-value in the duct has significantly lowered due to compression, age, and how it was originally hung/connected. After inspecting the supply runs I have found multiple areas where the duct is saturated and a few areas where 70° air is dumping into an attic that is 114°F. I checked the pressures, amp draw, capacitance. The system is functioning and cooling to the best of its ability but it is losing efficiency in the ductwork. At this time my suggestion is to replace all of the duct for both units. Both attic spaces are wide open and easily accessible. Please set up Comfort advisor appointment

Upon arrival to system cleaning I was shown to a mini split head in the guest bedroom that needed a fan coil cleaning. Disassembled indoor unit and pulled out fan wheel and drain pan. Took all parts outside and cleaned with solution and a hose. Let everything sit out to dry and cleaned the evap coil. Reassembled system and cycled the unit in the cooling mode to test proper functions. System is now very clean, with a lot better air flow. System is back operating within range of factory specifications. Left the unit in the cooling mode, spoke to the homeowner about the work completed, collected payment/signatures and left. Job complete. Thank you for choosing Total Air!

Customer complaint no cool Upon arrival located condenser in back patio. Customer requested us to come back to diagnose the air handler. Upon arrival gained access to electrical section of the condenser. During inspection found the capacitor has failed (spoke with home owner, replaced faulty part) checked start up amperage. Took amperage of compressor and outdoor motor. Checked refrigerant levels. Will have to return to do complete diagnosis of the system. At this time customer said unit is blowing cold. Will return at a later date Thank you for choosing total air!

No cool. On arrival, condenser disconnect was removed from the wall with wires loose. The home owners siding guys removed the disconnect box before I arrived. The siding guys installed a new pull out disconnect and I looked it over for the home owner. The box is installed correctly, however we are responsible if any further issues with the disconnect as we did not install it.

Complete replacement of indoor blower motor under warranty. Cycle and inspect system for proper operation. Left system in good working order. Thank you for choosing Total Air!

Complete call for system running continuously. After inspection I found the relay inside the motor to be failed shut. The indoor fan will only turn off if the high voltage is removed. To restore proper function to the system we will have to replace the indoor motor. Indoor blower motor: Model- FZ4ANP060 Serial- 1818F03266 We will need to call the customer and update them on scheduling when we locate the motor. I advised the customer that using the system will not hurt anything as the indoor fan will just run continuously. If the customers want the unit to turn off they will have to shut it down at the main breaker panel. Thank you for choosing Total Air!

Arrived at customers house for two unit system inspection. On arrival customer showed me to Two air handler units in attic. Started with newer system. No water was seen an overflow reservoir. Float switch currently working. Next went to older downstairs unit. Opened cabinet and inside. Had a lot of bio growth. All over the wiring, fan, and all over cabinet. Suggesting a fan, pulling clean, as well as a pure air UV light installation. Fan capacitor was below acceptable rating. Pointed out to customer and suggested we change. Customer agreed. Changed out capacitor and unit started up fine. Unit was producing proper delta. T. No water was seen in overflow reservoir. Float switch currently working. Next went outside to condensers. vacuumed out both condensate lines and got good vacuums from air handler systems. Opene

Called out today to perform a precision tune up on two units. Checked all electronics and motor components to ensure equipment is operating properly within manufacture specifications. Checked filter and cleared drain line/pan. Measured the temperature drop across the coils. Outside I removed the fan from the condensers and cleaned the coils from the inside out. Vacuumed drain lines clear from outside port. Equipment is operating properly at this time. Unit #2 is extremely hard to access due to the hanging brackets. There is one visit remaining on this year’s maintenance agreement. Performed a drain solve treatment to both units due to algae build up within the lines. Thank you for always choosing Total Air!

Called out today to perform a precision tune up. Checked all electronics and motor components on all four units to ensure equipment is operating within manufacture specifications. No filters were in place in returns throughout the house. Measured the temperature drop and rise across the coils. Found that the drain lines for the amanas were extremely clogged. Client mentioned that there were hot and cold spots throughout the home. Inspected ductwork and insulation to make sure there were no holes/deformations. There was some leakage at the connections from the air handler. Insulation levels are well below the U.S department of energy recommendations. I highly recommended investing in insulation to help reduce hot spots, energy loss and increase system performance. Pure air bulbs are at the end of their lifespan. Outside I removed the fans from the condensers and cleaned the coils from the inside out. Flushed drain lines with drain solve, replaced both pure air uv bulbs, and en

Check duct work Homeowner concerned with a stain on ceiling. Stain is not below either air handler or condensate line. I checked all ductwork in the area. I could not find any wet insulation. There is a damaged duct that would need to be replaced bit it is not the cause of the stain. There is staining on the underside of the roof where a water leak was. I cannot confirm if it is actively leaking as everything is dry. The roof was replaced in the last few years. Home owner will have a roofer come look at it. Office to quote a duct replacement. 1 bag 10in indoor flex duct. 2 6 in collars. Mastic, tape. 1 hour labor. Current duct is not sealed with mastic. Home owner would like a quote on insulation. We will need to set an appointment for me to return on or after November 21st.

Compressor is failed and would need to replaced for system to run. Due to condition of the system and high cost of repair, the homeowner would like a quote to replace. Home owner will be available after 12pm noon for a call to set an appointment. He would like the comfort advisor to come by after 5 pm if possible. Home owner signed up for maintenance program today. 2 systems. System is down until replaced or repaired.
