Wow. Be careful. My girlfriend called them for her elderly father. His AC was blowing somewhat warm, the AC would only cool the house to around 80 degrees, however it is blowing. She gets a quote for $2,500. My first thought is they quoted a new AC for that price. Very suspicious, I went over after work to check it out for myself. I’ve maintained commercial and resident ACs, not a HVAC technician by any means but know enough about them. Open up the air handler to check the coils as I thought they would be frozen over. Nope very clean for a 20 year old unit. Notice a layer of water on the bottom. Check the drain pipe and notice it’s slightly buried so I dig it out. Water starts coming out immediately!Now to the warm air issue. Use the meter to check the draw. It’s pulling more than it’s supposed to because the heater was running for some reason. Quick google search and it’s not too uncommon. I disconnect the relay and put everything back together. Turn it on and check the draw and it’s where it should be and it starts blowing cool again. Everything took about 30 minutes.Now my favorite part, the quote. - Adjust Refrigerant Level ( 1 lb ) R-427a $96.88(Had another company to check the level, it was full, and their cost was $50 a pound if needed)- 40 Amp Contactor $136.11- Dual Run Capacitor Turbo 200 $245- Pure Air X UVC Germicidal Unit $1,500!!!- Upgrade Pure Air X Cleaning to Pull & Clean $300- Clean Outdoor Condenser w/Coil Cleaner $147.78WHAT?!Now I can’t speak for the company as a whole as they seem to be doing something right. But this interaction has left a really bad taste in our mouth. Basically the technician charged us an $80 service call to draw up a quote. This all could have been fixed on the service call with ZERO parts, just a quick disconnect of the relay. I have no respect for anyone who tries to take advantage of the elderly and this smells like it all day long. Moral of the story, I would get another quote before you chose this company.
