St. Petersburg, FL FAQs
The value of repairing the AC in your St. Petersburg home is contingent upon a number of variables, including the age of the system, the severity of the problem, and the cost of the repair. If the AC is reasonably new and the cost of repair is affordable, fixing it is probably worthwhile. However, replacing it with a more energy-efficient model may be more cost-effective in the long run if the appliance is old, needs frequent repairs, or the cost of maintenance is high. Speaking with an HVAC expert can provide you with the knowledge you need to make an informed choice based on your unique circumstances.
If they receive regular maintenance, the majority of AC units can survive up to 15 years. Your air conditioner will lose energy efficiency as it ages, which could result in higher utility costs over time.
If your AC unit needs to be repaired more than twice each year, you might want to consider replacing it. Your air conditioner will require more and more repairs as it ages in order to function effectively. Instead of making frequent repairs to an outdated machine, you will save more money by replacing it.
It's not too late in the summer months to perform AC maintenance. In fact, summer is a good time since your air conditioning unit is working at full capacity. You may have a bit more wait time to get someone to your home, but it's worth the wait if it prevents a breakdown. Regular maintenance during peak usage can help identify issues before they become major problems. It also ensures your system runs efficiently, lowering energy costs and prolonging its lifespan. Still, it's best to schedule maintenance early before the hottest months for optimal preparation.

I had Total Air come out to do a diagnostic on my A/C unit and was quoted $79.00. When the technician arrived he look at both inside and out units and determined it was the condenser and memory board for my air handler. He told me I owed him $159.00. He said the $79.00 was only the trip charge and the diagnostic was separate. I reiterated I was quoted $79.00 he said he would have to talk to his office then only charged the $79.00 ad far as I know. So the quote for the capacitor and control board came to $970.60. So I ran into an A/C guy on one of my job sites and explained what I was told and he said it would be closer to $700 and could even get it lower if he bypassed the control board. He quoted me $385. I agreed and one of his technicians came out and determined there was nothing wrong with either the Control board or capacitor. Instead it was the fuse and wire touching metal that caused it to not work. The bill came in at $279 and works great both heat and cold.
Excellent!
